New and Revised Settings of the Liturgy

storrington cover The Storrington Mass is a new setting by Marty, written for a Norbertine community, Our Lady of England, in Storrington, England. This setting has been "test-driven"(and gone through a number of revisions) for the past two years, both with theOur Lady of England community and in numerous workshops. This setting was written specifically for the new texts of the liturgy, and is intended to respond to a variety of community needs.

While the setting will be published with parts for keyboard, guitar, bass, woodwinds, brass, handbells and tympani, it can be easily be sung a capella. It was a joy for Marty to have the opportunity to be able to try out this setting for two years before its publication. He is confident that the revisions during this period have ensured that this setting will have a good life.

Creation rev coverMarty revised his internationally known Mass of Creation to accomodate the new text requirements over two years before official implementation. He tried various versions out in dozens of workshops in both North America and Great Britain, inviting and encouraging feedback from church musicians. This new version of Mass of Creation includes a new "Kyrie," a new "Gospel Acclamation" and an entire sung setting of the revised Eucharistic Prayer III. As on the original recording, Fr. Jan Michael chants this setting on the CD (included in the Full Score and Presider editions).

This revision reflects that long process. While it is challenging to revise a familiar and well-loved setting, communities will find this new version of Mass of Creation to be both easy to embrace and faithful to the liturgical tradition and the textual changes.
