a new Gospel musical, a Lenten study guide and a weekly Lenten worship service based on John's gospel

 That You May Have Life

musical, study and worship resources

for worship, catechesis & community renewal

based on the Gospel of John

by Marty Haugen and Susan Briehl

Under the single title, That You May Have Life, this comprehensive and complimentary collection of resources includes

 ·   a new musical performance work for communities and parish music programs by Marty Haugen, based on familiar and beloved stories from John’s Gospel, such as Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind, Mary, Martha & Lazarus and Mary Magdalene.

 ·   a study guide,“Encountering Jesus in the Gospel of John,” by the Rev. Susan Briehl for the Gospel readings of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. This guide may be used for individual or group Bible study or as an aid in worship planning. It also offers a useful and appropriate teaching resource for candidates preparing for baptism at the Easter Vigil.

 ·   a Lenten prayer service created by Susan Briehl and Marty Haugen that includes simple musical interpretations of Gospel stories from the musical That You May Have Life for each week. Communities might want to consider combining the liturgies for each week with a Bible study using the matching chapter from the study guide.
